In the 80th anniversary year of the Kindertransports, the Claims Conference announced an agreement with the German government to provide compensation payments for child survivors of the Kindertransport. It is not yet clear whether this fund includes all Kindertransportees, or only those who were sent to Great Britain.

In the months before the start of World War II, the United Kingdom, in a program approved by Parliament, took in by far the largest number of unaccompanied Jewish children. Much smaller numbers of children were sent, alone, without parents, to Sweden, Switzerland, the Netherlands, France, Belgium, and directly to the United States.
